FRIENDSHIP Circle – Women’s Group

The ZELLWOOD UMC “Friendship Circle” was started in July 8, 1982 as an evening group and has continued ever since.  Women ranging from the age of 24 to 93 years old meet on the first Thursday of the month throughout the year (except for July and August) for food, fun and fellowship. This is hosted in a home, but you can meet at the church and car pool.  We are a fun loving social group of friends.

In addition to our monthly meeting we also host the Fellowship Hour Potluck (after the Worship Service) on alternating months.  One of our fund raisers is our “Chicken Dinner” in February. Members purchase tickets for themselves and guests for the dinner. This contribution allows us to reach out in missions and other help support other church needs such as parsonage care.

One way we try to support local outreach is recognizing and partnering with our local elementary school..  We recognize that teachers make many sacrifices in their field as well as value their invaluable contribution to our future leaders: the children in our community. In appreciation of them, we host a special “back to school” luncheon for all the staff and teachers of Zellwood Elementary at which time we give gifts and much needed school supplies for their classrooms.

CONTACT INFORMATION
If you are interested in joining our circle or would like any other information, please contact Jeanne Howard or the church office.

“Holy Rollers”

ZELLWOOD UMC’S “The Holy Rollers” was started by a Wade Black during the early days of ZUMC and was originally called the “Wade Black Holy Rollers”. After his ‘retirement’, Charlie Grinnell continued this ministry and has helped to make it what it is today.

Every Monday night from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. we meet and separate newspaper into single sheets which are wrapped into 25 lb. bundles (followed by coffee and dessert).   Local plant nurseries purchase these bundles to wrap their plants.

The funds collected have been a helpful resource to help to support various missions and other church needs. Some of the missions have included the Methodist Children Home; Edgewood Children’s Ranch, Missionary Julie Ellington, Vacation Bible School, etc.

Holy RollersWe are always in need of helpers and also newspapers!  So please save your papers and bring them by the church. The Newspapers are collected behind Fellowship Hall in the beige shed, [not in the red/green dumpster- that is for ‘unusable scraps’].

Come join us on a Monday night and see how much fun and fellowship paper rolling can be!!!
